Simple Tomato Pasta

A quick, flavourful pasta made with crushed tomatoes, garlic, and fresh basil. Perfect for weeknights.

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of generously salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a wide skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring, until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and add the sugar. Stir, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 15 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Season generously with salt and pepper. Tear in the fresh basil and stir through.
  5. Drain the pasta, reserving ½ cup of pasta water. Add the spaghetti to the sauce and toss well, loosening with a splash of pasta water if needed.
  6. Serve immediately with grated parmesan.
